That is a very difficult one to answer. Anatolian Turkey is definitely ASIA. But the physical boundary between Europe and Asia in that part of the world is the watershed along the crest of the Caucasus Mountains. That would put Russia in Europe but Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan in Asia. However, the Georgians firmly believe themselves to be culturally part of EUROPE, and for that matter so do the Armenians. Azeris would regard themselves as ASIAN along with neighbouring Iran.So we must conclude that physical geography dictates one thing and cultural geography another. So it's a 'grey area'!
I am so glad you are enjoying Georgia, don't forget the Botanical Gardens near Batumi. Take care. xxxxM
