Now, Dervla is inspirational! She had a single speed! So hlad ypu are reading her book. Had the privilege of going to one of her talks last year.
As for a break, after only a 20 km we were persuaded to stay for special night. We slept outside on the roof terrace of a hotel in Sultanhani, sat and ate with 2000 men, Iftar, breaking fast, outside the Kervanserai. We were the 2 honorary men.

Micheal,
Iran so big and pray we get our visas we will still need to renew while there to get to border in so Shiraz likely a bus trip storing our bikes elsewhere. So dates potentially flexible. Hope to also see Palani in Central Asia but until we have visas we can’t predict ahead. Will keep you posted with dates as soon as we know roughly ourselves.

I’m loving your inspirational posts Jules and dream of adventures whilst sitting behind my desk. Some days I’m wildly jealous and think I should immediately tender my resignation and go explore the world other days thinking…. mmm maybe the desk isn’t so bad. Dorothea Mackellar’s poem came to mind – ” I love a sunburnt Country “, why I have no idea? You are remarkable women of substance & have already proved to be more than resilient & most determined. Hope you stay in an hotel whilst in Sultanhani & rest a bit. Have read half of Dervla Murphy’s book ” Full Tilt ” & find it so endearing that she calls her loyal steed & sole companion Roz ! Just got back from the hardest ride I ever done. Not due to the length either, just the sun. And it was all flat.

Can’t imagine the strength needed to conquer Turkish mountains this time of year – you ladies are tough, really tough. Both me and Dunja feel inspired by having the chance to host you and I think the global cycling community ows you one as well – more than 30 people have stayed here from when you left
